Regulations of the European Parliament and of the Council coordinating social insurance systems determine that if a person insured by public (compulsory) health insurance in one member state cannot get needed healthcare services in the country in which he is covered by the compulsory health insurance or resides in, due to certain circumstances and considering their state of health and disease progression, with the prior authorisation of his competent institution (form E112 or portable document S2) he can go to another country of the European Union plus Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and receive appropriate healthcare services in one of these countries.

Therefore, if you are insured by public (compulsory) health insurance in an EU member state and you cannot get the needed healthcare in your competent member state on time and wish to be treated in Lithuania, please contact your competent institution with the request to issue form E112 (or portable document S2). We also recommend contacting the healthcare provider in order to arrange the provision of the services.

Please present your form E112 and identity document to the healthcare provider. The cost of healthcare provided on the basis of form E112 will be covered by the Territorial Health Insurance Fund from the budget of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund.

Please note that the holders of form E112 (or portable document S2) are entitled to receive healthcare only in institutions belonging to the Lithuanian National Health System.
